Around
sixteen years ago, shortly after I had moved to London, God gave me a
vision. I lay on the bed and prayed when I saw the map of Finland
superimposed over my line of sight.
In
the vision the Helsinki, Tampere and Pori regions were burning with
revival fire. There was hectic activity between these three regions, and
after a little while, the revival fire spread over the whole nation.
At
the time, I had little understanding about the vision but over the last
few months the Holy Spirit has opened the vision to me.
I believe that the beginning of the national awakening I saw in that vision is only a few years away.
I
also believe that the coming revival will have a drastically different
nature to it than the last great revival that came with the ministry of
Niilo Yli-Vainio.
First, this revival won’t only affect one denomination but many of them.
Second, it won’t rely on one man only.
I believe that 1 Corinthians 14:1 epitomises the coming move of God perfectly. Paul writes,
“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.”
Like no other revival before, the coming revival will bring the activity of the Spirit together with the heart of God, love.
The
main reason why we have so little evidence for the gifts of the Spirit –
words of knowledge and wisdom, speaking in tongues and their
interpretation, prophecy, discerning spirits, faith, gifts of healing
and working of miracles is simple.
The people who have been hungry for the Spirit have often been not that interested in loving their neighbour.
This
time, God will release gifts on a large scale but it is only those who
have compassion for the common, unsaved Finn, and love for their fellow
Christian, across denominational lines, that will be able to keep and
develop these gifts.
Those
who will not care for the unsaved, help the poor and who will continue
to look down on Christians from other denominations won’t be able to
keep the gifts.
I believe that the fire will spread from Finland to the other Nordic countries and rest of Europe.
I
believe that God will raise a generation of young Finns who will become
mature in gifts of the Spirit and they will spread the fire of God all
over the world!
I’m looking forward to the next few years in Finland!
